International Pheonatic Symbols (IPS)

Today we learn about International Pheonatic Symbols.It is an alphabetic system of phonetic notation based primarily on the Latin alphabet. It was devised by the International Phonetic Association as a standardized representation of the sounds of spoken language We need to find the meaning of some word.

          For example:  Tool =
tטіl
                         Took = tטk
                               Short = פּ:t
                         One   = wΛn
                         Freighter = freitə
                               Show = ∫əט

For the 1st time we saw this symbol its look weird. But when we understand and know how to pronoun the English word become more interesting to use.

Here we get an example from internet for you all to undestand:

 Today is Tuesday.... Mdm Ceah tough us about Suffix and Prefix

Firstly, i learnt about prefixes. Prefixes are add to the beginning of a base word. They change the meaning of the base word.

Do you understand what if prefixes is? Here i will give a few example of prefixes..
   Ex :     1.   un + happy = unhappy
                           ( the prefix un means not, so the meaning is not happy or sad)

              2.    re + do      = redo
                           ( the prefixes re means again, so reread means read again)

Secondly, do you know the meaning of suffixes?

Suffixes are added at the end of a base word and change the meaning (form)
of the base word. List are example of suffixes:

              1.   ability
               2.  bailed
               3.  ableism

What i have learnt in the class today?
        Today i learnt about how to use suffixes and prefixes correctly.The usage of the two knowledge can improve my communication skills. I will surprise all my friend with using all new word

What learning experience have i gained?
        Mdm Cheah push us to alert when she asked something in class and i notice i am too shy in the class,so i will 'wake up' and show him i am a man... :p

What i will remember most from the class today?
       The most i remember today is when mdm ask me a question and i was embrassing myself without anyword from my mouth because i really dont know the answer.. So i promise to my self to improve my skills so next time when she ask me something, i can answer it correctly.

The Jabberwock, as illustrated by John Tennial

Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe;
All mimsy were the borogoves,
And the mome raths outgrabe.
“Beware the Jabberwock, my son!
The jaws that bite, the claws that catch!
Beware the Jubjub bird, and shun
The frumious Bandersnatch!”
He took his vorpal sword in hand:
Long time the manxome foe he sought—
So rested he by the Tumtum tree,
And stood awhile in thought.
And as in uffish thought he stood,
The Jabberwock, with eyes of flame,
Came whiffling through the tulgey wood,
And burbled as it came!
One, two! One, two! and through and through
The vorpal blade went snicker-snack!
He left it dead, and with its head
He went galumphing back.
“And hast thou slain the Jabberwock?
Come to my arms, my beamish boy!
O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!”
He chortled in his joy.
’Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe;
All mimsy were the borogoves,
And the mome raths outgrabe.
